Summary:
The purpose of this position is to perform clerical duties in the collection of personal property taxes in the Treasurer’s office.
This class works under close to general supervision of the Deputy Treasurer according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Essential Duties
- Collects and posts revenues received to specific bank fund accounts. Handle large volumes of financial transactions (cash, checks, credit card, online and contactless payments). Collects SCDMV license fees; issue SCDMV decals, reconcile weekly. Collects SCDNR watercraft registration fees; reconcile daily.
- Balances cash drawer daily. Deposits all monies received in approved banks to the credit of proper fund accounts.
- Interprets tax information in tax accounting system (real estate, vehicle and watercraft).
- Works with Deputy Treasurer to ensure general ledger is reconciled.
- Process, sorts, and files County and State mailed tax payments/revenue received.
- Maintains confidential information in accordance with legal standards and/or County regulations.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications
- High School Diploma required.
- Three (3) years of bookkeeping experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate in Accounting preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Special Certifications and Licenses:

- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
