Registration & Elections Clerk

Summary:

The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to Registration & Elections Department.

This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.

Essential Duties

  • Answer telephones and responds to inquiries; maintain accurate details of all phone calls.
  • Meet and greet voters.
  • Create and modify documents using Microsoft Office.
  • Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing.
  • Maintain filing system (hard copies) of Voter Registration applications.
  • Support staff in assigned Elections/Voter Registration based work.
  • Study training manuals.
  • Contact potential Poll Managers and maintain Poll Manager database
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications

  • High School graduation or GED equivalent.
  • One (1) year of clerical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The clerk must complete the SEC Training and Certification Program within 18 months of initial hiring. Following certification, he/she must participate in at least one training course each year. (7-5-10 and 7-5-35).
