Part Time Animal Services Assistant

Summary:
The Kennel Assistant supports the daily operations of an animal shelter by providing care for the animals and maintaining a clean and safe environment. This role involves feeding, exercising, and monitoring the health of the animals, as well as performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks.
Essential Duties
- Animal Care:
- – Feed and provide fresh water to animals according to their specific dietary needs.
- – Exercise and socialize animals to promote their physical and mental well-being.
- – Monitor the health of animals, reporting any signs of illness or injury to the Kennel Manager.
- Sanitation and Maintenance:
- – Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment.
– Wash and sanitize food bowls, water dishes, and bedding regularly.
– Maintain laundry duties including washing and drying animal bedding and towels.
- Health Monitoring:
– Administer medications and basic medical care under the supervision of veterinary staff.
– Assist with routine health checks and vaccinations.
- Customer Service:
– Greet and assist visitors, potential adopters, and volunteers with professionalism and courtesy.
– Provide information about animals available for adoption and assist with the adoption process.
- Other Duties:
– Assist with intake and discharge of animals, including bathing and grooming as needed.
– Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
– Perform other related duties as assigned by the Kennel Manager.

Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
- Prefers experience working with domestic animals.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
