FEMA declares Abbeville as a disaster area on October 4th. Individuals can apply for assistance online at DisasterAssistance.gov or over the phone at 1-800-621-3362

Convenience Center will operate DAILY 7:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday with normal hours and operations starting Sunday, October 13th.

All permit fees related to storm damage repair will be waived. At this time, storm damage repair permits are the Building Department‘s top priority. If you need to know that a contractor is licensed, call the office at 864-366-2400 ext. 2224.

Food Needs

  • The AAMC Community Resource Center is giving away food boxes, hygiene products, baby items, family care packages for specific needs. Call 864-366-2525. They are accepting donations to multiply their reach. Open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • If you or someone you know has disaster-related needs, please call the United Way Resource Hub! They can help with food, shelter, supplies, and more. They are also looking for donations or volunteers if you are able to help your neighbors. Call: 864-854-9038
  • United Christian Ministries of Abbeville County (UCMAC)Food distribution Friday morning 9:30 -11:45 a.m. Entrance is on the backside of Main Street Church.
  • Dreams with Open Arms Blessing Box in Calhoun Falls is giving away food to those in need, call 404-772-1880 to request food or to donate.
  • Disaster SNAP Replacement – only current SNAP recipients without power for more than 4 hours can report the amount of loss and receive up to the amount of recipient’s September issuance.  Complete the DSS Form 1634-B. Reach out the DSS office for more information.
Medical Needs
  • If a member of the public is in need of a shelter and has medical equipment requiring power (oxygen, refrigerated medicines, etc.), please call the Dept. of Public Health Careline at 1-855-472-3432 to be triaged into a Medical Needs Shelter.

  • FEMA individual disaster assistance is intended to meet the basic needs of your household for uninsured or underinsured necessary expenses and serious needs. Apply at diasterassistance.gov
  • SBA Home and Personal Property Loan may be available if you have experienced damage to your home or personal property.  You must apply to FEMA and apply your insurance first.
  • SCDEW Disaster Unemployment Assistance provides temporary benefits to individuals whose employment or self-employment has been lost or interrupted as a direct result of a major disaster and who are not eligible for regular Unemployment Insurance (UI). “Direct result” means an immediate result of the major disaster itself and not the result of a longer chain of events caused or worsened by the disaster.

Business

Restaurant Disaster Relief Fund – To help restaurants recover in times of critical need, DoorDash has partnered with Hello Alice to create the Restaurant Disaster Relief Fund. The fund supports restaurants impacted by natural disasters, severe weather events, or major infrastructure failures, and provides relief through $10,000 grants.

Economic Injury Assistance SBA – If you are unable to meet financial obligations and pay regular and necessary operating expenses and are unable to obtain credit elsewhere you may qualify. SBA can provide loans to help cover the costs and expenses that your business would have been able to handle if the disaster did not happen. The EIDL amount will depend on how much financial impact you have experienced and your company’s financial needs, even if you didn’t suffer any property damage.

Physical Disaster Loan SBA – If you have disaster losses not fully covered by insurance or other sources you may by be eligible for a low interest loan.
