Deputy Family Court Clerk

POSITION OVERVIEW

Title 14 – Accept and maintain filings of cases concerning marriage, divorce, legal separation, custody, visitation rights, termination of parental rights, adoption, support, alimony, division of marital property, and change of name.  Juvenile cases are also handled in Family Court.  Preparation of Family Court docket; docket of all domestic relations matters to be heard by the Court.  Preparing and distributing notices.  Issuance of Rule to Show Cause for failure to comply with a Court Order.  Enrolling final Court Order in computer and judgement book.

Code 56-1-745   Juvenile Cases – collect and transmit driver’s license, tickets to SC Department of Public Safety.  Help with preparation of Clerk of Court’s unit cost and incentive contract.

Month end reports and reconcile child support bank account monthly.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma and two (2) years legal experience.

Other requirements:

  • Must be bonded
  • Excellent computer skills and accounting experience.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background checks and testing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

General office skills, accounting experience, ability to handle difficult situations and works well with others and the public.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and climb or balance. The employee may lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Noise level is moderate
